Forest Industry

The New Zealand forest industry is a $5 billion per year business.  It is New Zealand's third largest export earner with export revenue of around $3 billion per year.  Over 99% of the wood the industry produces (by value and by volume) comes from forests planted in exotic tree species, mainly radiata pine and some Douglas-fir.
