Trade Access
The Market Access Group of the FIDA, more commonly known as the Trade Access Group (TAG), was established as part of the Wood Processing Strategy in November 2002 and continues to work under the auspices of the FIDA.
Its primary purpose has been to fund projects aimed at addressing key non-tariff barriers (NTBs) facing the forestry industry, particularly those in Asian markets. The TAG has also funded more general market access projects.
Funding through the FIDA allows projects to be carried out over and above the general trade access work carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT)
The TAG is chaired by MFAT and has representation from:
Building Research Association of New Zealand (BRANZ)
Department of Building and Housing (DBH)
Forest Owners' Association (FOA)
Forest Research (trading as Scion)
Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF)
Ministry of Economic Development (MED)
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE)
Pine Manufacturers' Association (PMA)
Timber Industry Federation (TIF)
Wood Processors' Association (WPA)
Currently all the projects on the Market/Trade Access Group's programme have a degree of commercial confidentiality and so aren't available for general viewing.
